Find the perfect enduro ebike!
Are you ready for ultimate riding fun on challenging trails and steep descents? Then an E-Enduro bike is just the thing for you! Here you can find out everything you need to know to find your perfect E-Enduro bike.
What is an E-Enduro bike and where does it want to be ridden?
An e-enduro bike is the electrically assisted version of an enduro mountain bike. It combines the robustness and suspension travel reserves of an enduro bike with the additional thrust of an electric motor. This opens up completely new possibilities on your trail tours.
With an e-enduro bike, you can master challenging single trails and technical descents without having to sacrifice uphill fun. The electric motor supports you when pedalling so that you can easily tackle steep climbs and gain more vertical meters. At the same time, the suspension, usually with 150–180 mm of travel, offers you enough reserves to stay in control even on rough terrain.
E-Enduro bikes are therefore the perfect companion for extended trail tours in the mountains, where you want to master both steep climbs and challenging descents. They allow you to explore more trails in one day and still have enough power for the descents.
E-Enduro bike races:
The popularity of E-Enduro bikes is also reflected in the racing scene. More and more organizers are offering special E-Enduro races where participants can put their skills to the test on challenging routes.
The aim of these races is to complete several special stages in a given time. These stages are usually technically demanding descents that require skill, speed and endurance. The transfers between the stages are usually not scored, so that the electric motor can be fully utilized to save power.
E-Enduro races therefore offer an exciting challenge for anyone who wants to put their riding skills to the test on an e-mountain bike. At the same time, they promote the development of new technologies and innovations in the e-mountainbike sector.
How much support and battery does an e-enduro bike have?
E-Enduro bikes are generally equipped with powerful mid-motor systems that provide support up to a speed of 25 km/h. The most common systems come from manufacturers such as Bosch, Shimano or Brose and offer support levels of up to 400% of your own pedal power.
The battery capacity of most e-enduro bikes is between 500 and 700 watt hours. Depending on the riding style, support level and route profile, ranges of 50 to 100 kilometers are possible. Many manufacturers also offer the option of fitting a second battery to increase the range even further.
Difference between a trail e-bike and an e-enduro bike: Trail e-bikes and e-enduro bikes are very similar at first glance, but differ in a few important ways. Trail e-bikes are generally lighter and more agile than e-enduro bikes and usually have less suspension travel (130–150 mm). They are therefore better suited to less demanding trails and longer tours.
E-enduro bikes, on the other hand, are more robust and have more suspension travel reserves (160–180 mm). They are therefore better suited to rougher terrain and faster, more demanding descents. However, they are also heavier and less maneuverable than trail fully e-bikes.
Ultimately, the choice between a trail e-bike and an e-enduro bike depends on your personal preferences and your area of use. If you mainly ride flowing trails and longer tours, a trail e-bike is the better choice. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a challenge on technical terrain and demanding descents, an e-enduro bike is the right choice.
What should I look out for when buying?
When choosing your E-Enduro bike, you should pay attention to a few important points:
frame size and geometry: choose a frame that fits your height and a geometry that suits your riding style. E-enduro bikes usually have a longer, flatter geometry than trail e-bikes, which offers more smoothness and control at high speeds.
suspension: Look for a high-quality suspension fork and a shock with sufficient adjustment options to adapt the suspension to your needs. A suspension travel of 160–180 mm is usual for an E-Enduro bike. The perfect middle ground is usually 170 mm at the front and 160 mm at the rear.
brakes: Choose powerful disc brakes with large brake discs, at least 200mm at the front and 180mm at the rear to be able to decelerate safely even on steep terrain.
motor and battery: Here you should choose a brand manufacturer such as Shimano, Bosch, Specelized, Yamaha or Panasonic. In terms of battery size, you should go for at least 600 watts. For heavy people, at least 750 watts are recommended.
