Ready to rip out of the box, the dialled Canyon Torque AL 6 is excellent value, with well-specified and reliable components

Pros
  1. Sorted package with good geometry and parts
  2. strong wheels
  3. chunky Fox 38 fork and X2 shock
  4. Shimano drivetrain
Cons
  1. Doesn’t offer anything outstanding in terms of handling or ride character in a crowded marketplace

Canyon already has an enduro race bike (the Strive), a downhill bike (the Sender) and a playful trail bike with enduro angles (the Spectral), so where does the 170mm travel Torque fit into the range? Is it a pure bike park shredder, or does it have a side...

Pros
  1. Solid and confidence inspiring, smooth in the rough and playful on flow trails, low standover and mullet set-up gives great agility.
Cons
  1. Coil shock can take a bit longer to get the perfect set-up. Maxx Grip front tyre might be a bit slow on mellow jump trails.

  3. Very confidence inspiring
  4. Comfortable in the rough
  5. Solid build, quiet on the trail
  6. Mullet set-up ideal for the intended use of the bike

  8. Tubeless out of the box
  9. Steep seat tube makes for a good climbing position
Cons
  1. Not very “poppy”
  2. Slow on mellow trails
  3. Proprietary, oval headset spacers are a little awkward and can collect dirt in an unnecessary place

It's easy to get lost in geometry charts, suspension graphs, and spec sheets when you're shopping for a new bike. Those details are useful, but I'll try to make it easy here: the Torque CF8 is a ton of fun, and offers an excellent value for anyone in the...

Cons
  1. Long front center + short back end is fun, but can require extra attention at times
  2. Low geometry position is really low – may not be all that useable for riders pedaling in rocky terrain
