VERDICT: The Canyon Aeroad CFR is an aero bike that doesn't feel like one
Simon von Bromley
The Canyon Aeroad CFR Di2 is a truly rapid road bike that's very competitive both on the scales and in terms of price, but a slightly outdated front wheel means it suffers a bit on rough roads
- Noticeably stiff and very fast
- competitively light
- comfortable rear end
- excellent value
- power meter included as stock
- adjustable handlebar width
- Front end suffers a bit on rough roads
- old-fashioned saddle

The new Canyon Aeroad is lighter, faster, stiffer, yet just as comfortable as the original. It gets extra marks for creative engineering, and it's a fast and compliant bike to ride, but racers may want to wait a while
- +Slightly relaxed geometry makes it suitable for more riders
- +Genuinely comfortable ride
- +Competitively low weight (7.3kg size L)
- +Aero cockpit's cut-free stem height
- +Width adjustable handlebars
- -Restricted to Aeroad cockpit, of which six-degree rise option only available… for now
- -Non-carbon-railed saddle seems out of keeping with otherwise high spec
- -Specced with older DT Swiss ACR 1100 Dicut wheelset… for now
- -Tubeless tyres not included
Canyon present the Aeroad CFR, promising to be the world's fastest road bike. Read on to find out what a folding handlebar has got to do with it.
- Balanced comfort level
- Stable straight-line stability
- Efficient on flat terrain and on descents
- Compact packing size thanks to the foldable handlebar
- Many frame sizes and the 650B option for small riders
- low torsional stiffness of the cockpit during hard cornering and full-gas sprints
- in wet and dirty road conditions, the front wheel quickly reaches its grip limit due to the small contact patch of the 700 x 25C tire
